Dominican Republic is filled with some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, from serene relaxation to party hotspots this island, which shares Hispaniola with neighbouring Haiti, can cater for any travelers needs. Punta Cana is by far the most famous resort on the island and has the highest concentration of resorts.
It's not just about the beaches and parties though. Dominican Republic is also home to the highest point in the Caribbean, Pico Duarte and with its mix of terrain is a paradise for those with adventurous tastes with activities including canyoning, white water rafting and kitesurfing to name a few.

There are a number of airports dotted around the Dominican however the main ones are Santo Domingo Las Americas international airport (SDQ) servicing the capital and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) which flys into the east of the country to the popular resorts. From the UK to Punta Cana is around a 9 hour direct flight.

Perhaps a little wetter than the majority of other Caribbean islands expect the occasional downpour with the lowest month in March averaging 42mm and the highest, August, averaging 116mm.
