This small island is 16 by 3 miles but still manages to have over 30 pristine stretches of sand ranging from beaches overlooking the neighbouring St Maarten island and also well hidden coves which are reachable by boat, all open to the public.
There are no direct flights into the island and can be reached from neighbouring by plane from Puerto Rico, Antigua or St Maarten or via a 20 minute ferry from the latter making this island less crowded and off the beaten path.
With no public transport on the island is makes gives getting around the eel shape-like island, which is where it gets it's name from, a true island feel.

You can either get a connecting flight from US to either Puerto Rico or St. Maarten landing in the Clayton J Lloyd International Airport (AXA) -- the flight from St. Maarten is around 7 minutes in the air - or you can get a ferry service from St Martin (French side) or St Maarten (Dutch side).

Like most Caribbean islands Anguilla's climate is tropical, meaning hot all year through however there is a hotter, muggier time of year from May to October and a cooler less rainy time of year from December to March. Any rain you see is likely to come in the form of a downpour and is normally complemented throughout the day with a few hours of sunshine.

Eat a lot of seafood however Goat is the main meat. renowned for its spectacular and ecologically significant coral reefs and beaches. The sailboat-racing season runs from May through August, and during that time you can join the locals, first at cliffside vantage points to watch prized craft compete offshore, then at the post-race parties that carry on well into the night.
