San Salvador is rich in Bahamian history and heavily tied to Christopher Columbus boasting a number of memorials which are a nod to his arrival in 1492 - he even renamed the island which means 'Holy Saviour'.

The island is also home to secluded beaches and stunning seas and inland lakes which makes San Salvador a favourite for travellers who wish to immerse themselves in rich history in a paradise setting.

    San Salvador airport (ZSA) has a regular service from Nassau airport which takes about 1 hour. The airport is located in the North East of the island.

    The Bahamas experiences a cooler, dryer period between November to March (28C) and a hotter, wetter period between June and October with August being the wettest month with over 150mm of rain however the sunshine is never too far away even in stormy days. Each island varies slightly depending on it's location in the chain.
